Meet Our Founder & CEO
Terrick Phillips understands the challenges facing today’s youth, especially in the community where he grew up as a black male full of hopes and dreams, but not always having positive role models and systems to be successful.
Throughout his journey, he overcame many obstacles including being cut from his high school basketball team and not initially receiving a college scholarship to a four-year institution.
However, with hard work, dedication, and perseverance, Terrick earned a scholarship to play basketball for Southwest Tennessee Community College, a junior college located in Memphis, TN.
After finishing his Associates Degree, Terrick transferred to Vorhees College where he continued his basketball career. While at Voorhees College, Terrick earned All-America honors during his senior season. Eager to pursue to his dream of becoming a professional basketball player, he left college early to sign a professional contract to play overseas in Bolivia.
Terrick played nine years professionally including playing in countries such as Spain, Argetina, Serbia, Kosovo, El Salvador, Dubai, and Brazil. In 2022, Terrick earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sport Management from Voorhees College.
Terrick has always had a passion to give back to his community which is what promoted the idea to start TP Foundation. It is his goal to motivate, empower, and uplift the youth of his community by being a positive role model and proving resources for them to be successful in life.
With his foundation, he hopes to relieve some of the financial strain incurred while pursuing a college education by providing a hardworking and dedicated individual with a scholarship. He believes this will help bring them one step closer to achieving their goal of obtaining a college education. Our mission is to empower the youth by providing them resources and opportunities to succeed in life.
